Location Report

For my nine keyframes, I will be taking shots in three different locations. These will be the school science lab, the London Gherkin building and a small tunnel in Crayford. These three locations set the mood for the script that I have written. The choice of the lab with its hazard signs are symbolic of what Bond is about to discover about his Lady Bond. The Gherkin building is strong visual representation of masculinity being portrayed. Finally, the tunnel is being used to display the irony in Bonds character, as he leaves his former life behind. These three locations will complement the script and will support the macro that I am exploring.

These shots of my locations are relevant to my thesis which is, "The representation of men through propaganda". These chosen locations explore and help to develop my macro.

(Low Angle Shot)

The Gherkin is a clear example of phallic imagery. This will be particularly significant when Bond will be standing juxtaposed against it, giving an image of masculinity and propaganda. The Gherkin is a symbol of Britain's power and is therefore a perfect choice for exploring my macro. I will either take a wide shot to show a clearer view of the scenario or I will take a low angle shot, which will be powerful in showing Bond's dominance and masculinity. I shall also be going to the River Thames for the images of Bond disposing of his gadgets.

(Medium Shot)

I have taken images of the lab, as it is the most crucial location of my script. It's where the main scene of the resolution will be shot. In terms of exploring my macro, the lighting supports it, as one side of the lab is dark and the other side is brighter. I will create the pessimistic atmosphere through Mise En Scene. I will have Bond standing on the side with the most light and as Lady Bond (Olivia) is a character with grey shades, she will be in the darker side of the lab. The dominance of Bond and Olivia will change as the script develops, therefore I will use the entire lab, with low angle shots and high angle shots. The low angle shots will represent Bond's masculinity, where as the high angle shots will represent Olivia's dominance and her feminine power over Bond.

(Medium Close-Up Shot)

The use of the Crayford tunnel is to show feminine empowerment through yonic imagery. This is yet another very important location for my nine keyframes, as I have planned this to be the last shot in my nine keyframes. This last keyframe will be quite ironic, as Bond will leave the world of espionage behind and walk into the light. That will be a complete opposite representation of James Bond.  It will be the rebirth of a new James Bond, who will leave his sense of duty behind and walk on. Therefore this is the best location to create the dark and light atmosphere, which will resemble the contrasts in bond's life. Again, I will be focusing on the Mise En Scene and the camera shot. I will take a wide shot, which will clearly show Bond walking away through the tunnel.

Health and Safety
All three locations have different health and safety issues to be considered, including vehicles, crowds of people and chemicals.

The health and safety precautions to be dealt with while taking snapshots under the bridge will mainly be the vehicles using the tunnel. I will have to plan to take my shots during less busy periods and think about high-visibility jackets for Bond and myself. Also, pictures can be taken from the pavement where it will be not so dangerous. If I do have to stand in the road I may have to take an extra person with me to keep an eye on the traffic.

Near the Gherkin building, the health and safety aspect to be considered is the potential of having crowds of people present. As the Gherkin  attracts tourists, it will be quite busy, so taking the snapshots will take some patience and planning. If some of the public are caught in the camera shots, this will add to the busy London scene, though I might choose to use a more close up image so as to maintain focus and the privacy of the members of public.

The science lab is in the Leigh Tech Academy and thus much easier for me to access than the other two locations. The biggest precaution to take is to ensure all chemicals are safely stored in the lab. Due to the potential hazards I have gotten permission to use the lab from the Lab Technician and she will supervise me using the facility.
